My second piano teacher, whom we just called "Teach," literally made me cry for weeks, and then I suddenly stopped and wanted to impress him. (I’m very competitive, and competitive people are easy to motivate. Tell me I probably can’t do something, and I’ll find a way to do it.) He taught me how to play Chopin and Bartok, and also let me learn nearly every song from Tori Amos’ Under the Pink and Boys for Pele.
I started performing at the Arizona Renaissance Festival in 2000 as an Irish dancer, and in 2005 started performing with my harpsichord. Along the way, I received my BA in English literature and my MFA in Creative Writing, traveled some as a musician and moved to California to live near the ocean. |
